of Sanatana Dharma
Hinduism, or Sanatana Dharma, is fundamentally scientific in its approach to understanding reality. Unlike dogmatic belief systems, it emphasizes empirical observation, logical reasoning, and experiential verification. Note: Different philosophical schools accepted different numbers of pramāṇas, but all emphasized observation and reasoning as foundational.
The Ṛgveda, Hinduism's oldest text, itself questions the nature of creation:
"Who truly knows? Who can here declare it? Whence was it born, whence came creation? The gods are later than this world's creation, so who knows from where it came into being?"— Ṛgveda 10.129 (Nāsadīya Sūkta)

These debate methodologies ensured that ideas were rigorously tested. Philosophers had to defend their positions against skilled opponents, similar to peer review in modern science. Weak arguments were discarded; strong ones were refined and preserved.

Hinduism's scientific nature isn't about retrofitting ancient texts to match modern discoveries.
